These are only usually for cars and some household goods. The goods belong to the creditor until the last payment is made.

It is particularly important to check the Agreement to see if it is Hire Purchase before returning goods to the creditor, as hire purchase goods cannot be repossessed after a third of the purchase price has been paid unless the creditor gets a court order. 

In addition, goods may be returned that actually belonged to the deceased and should be part of the estate.
