Most donor transplant co-ordinators are registered nurses based at large transplant centres. Their role involves: asking families permission to donate the organs of the deceased. giving families information as regards to the donation process. providing follow-up care to the family and Intensive Care and Theatre staff. teaching other healthcare professionals and members of the public.
