Available through funeral directors who are members of the National Association of Funeral Directors, The Bereavement Register is a free service that removes the names and addresses of deceased people from company mailing lists and databases.  TBR Call Guardian is an associated free service that screens all telemarketing calls to the deceased person's telephone number for a period of 6 months from the date of registration.

The General Register Office for Scotland (GROS) administers the registration of events such as births, deaths, marriages, divorces and adoptions, and is responsible for the statutes relating to the formalities of marriage and conduct of civil marriage.
