The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths is the UK's leading cot death charity working to prevent unexpected infant deaths and promote baby health. It operates throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland to fund research into the causes of sudden infant death, support families whose babies have died suddenly and unexpectedly, and to promote information about cot death and safe infant care to the public and health professionals.

The Trust offers support to all families who have suffered the sudden unexpected death of their baby or young child and to the professionals dealing with such a tragedy. A range of leaflets have been produced for families and a bereavement support worker is available to visit the family in their home or provide telephone support. In addition, information is available about a befriending service.
