The Child Bereavement Trust is a national UK charity, founded in 1994. The Miscarriage Association have: a UK-wide network of over 150 volunteer telephone contacts who have been through pregnancy loss themselves and can offer support, understanding and a listening ear. Rainbow Trust was founded to provide respite and support at home to children with a life threatening or terminal illness and their families. Immediate help is on hand through the Rainbow Trust Family Support Service and at the Charity's two respite centres. All care is free. Children with life threatening or terminal conditions very often prefer to be cared for in their own homes but caring for a sick child can be stressful and demanding. Rainbow Trust's family support worker teams offer practical and emotional help in the family's own home.  Rainbow Trust family support workers help with the normal activities of daily life by providing a listening ear to anxious parents, sick children and worried siblings. They provide practical help with running the home, transport and support with endless hospital visits. Rainbow Trust understands that when a child is very ill all members of the family are affected, especially brothers and sisters.

The Helpline is for anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby and wants to talk to someone about their experience. The Helpline team are there to listen and give support. They can advise about finding local help, whether from a SANDS group or other counselling services, and have information about other relevant support organisations.

The Trust offers support to all families who have suffered the sudden unexpected death of their baby or young child and to the professionals dealing with such a tragedy. A range of leaflets have been produced for families and a bereavement support worker is available to visit the family in their home or provide telephone support. In addition, parents can be put in contact with a befriender - a parent who has suffered a Cot Death in the past and who is now willing to offer support and hope to the newly bereaved family.  If and when the parents decide to have another baby, the Trust ensures that a breathing monitor is available for the baby. While this is not a guarantee that their new baby will not die it can provide much needed reassurance for parents who can go to sleep, knowing that they will be alerted if their baby stops breathing.
